Rep. Leon Howard to introduce Health Care for All Resolution
This week, Representative Leon Howard, (D)- Richland County, and other members of the Black Caucus hosted a press conference for the Health Care for All Resolution they will soon introduce in session. The resolution calls on elected officials and candidates at all levels of government to work together with consumers, businesses, and health care providers to ensure access to quality, affordable health care for every American.
In South Carolina, there are 672,000 people without health care coverage, including over 100,000 children. Nationally, 47 million Americans are uninsured; 80% of whom come from working families.
“It is a broken health care system when a parent has to be more concerned about how they will pay the high cost of health care than about whether their child returns to good health,” said Rep. Howard. “The Health Care for All Resolution ensures that South Carolina continues to push for access to quality, affordable health care for every American.” See news coverage
